ER Visit

Last night was our second trip to the ER for one of our kids. A little more than 2 years ago, we took Chay into the ER when he developed this rash

Last night, the kids were downstairs playing while Latana & I were upstairs. I heard a big thud and started walking towards the steps when I heard Jace start crying. At first, I figured he just hurt himself walking up the stairs. But we soon discovered it was a bit more serious than just an little bump. Jace had a gash on the underside of his chin. I took one look at it and said that we'd need to take him in. The cut was only about one-half inch long, but it was deep and a band-aid wasn't going to keep it closed.

Here is a picture of Jace in the ER. The put a numbing gel on the cut and then covered it with a clear plastic bandage. But in this picture you can clearly see the cut. After a while, the doctor sewed him up with four stitches.

Jace did a lot better getting the stitches than I thought he would. I had to lie down on the bed with Jace lying down on top of me while I held his hands. A nurse held his head still. Jace was uncomfortable and tried to struggle a few times, but mostly he just lay still and let the doctor do his handiwork.

I'm sure the chin is sore today. But Jace gets one of his favorite things, band-aids! I'm not sure why he loves those things. Yesterday, Chay fell and bumped his hip. Jace came to me with a band-aid. I assumed that Jace wanted it on his leg or arm and he sometimes does. Instead, Jace wanted it for Chay. Then Jace went and got a band-aid for himself.

On a completely unrelated note, today is April 24th and its snowing. I think this will be the last snow of the season as it should be in the 60's this weekend, but you never know.
