Last weekend, I got the deck done. The rest of the wood finally came in.
While the deck project was underway, I had a good amount of tools in the back of my pickup. One day I cleaned those up and the boys liked being able to get in there under the tonneau cover.
I've been busy with work. Even had a few weeknights devoted to team activities.
Chay had a playdate with Emmerich. He met Emmerich last spring when they played on the same soccer team. They got together over the summer on occasion. Fall soccer started this week. It was a striking contrast from Spring soccer. Last spring, there was still snow on the ground. When they were finally able to play soccer, it was windy, rainy, and cold. This week, it is very dry and very hot. But still windy. Chay scored at least 6 goals in his first game. Chay missed the first day of practice. He had a birthday party to attend.
By now, most people have heard of Jenner's big injury. He got hit in the face with a big swing, at least 20 pounds. One front tooth became loose and two other teeth got pushed back into the sockets. Jenner was in terrible pain and I felt bad because I caused this accident. I still feel terribly about it. Jenner has been a trooper and taken it all in stride. Initially, he was self-aware that people were looking at his teeth, but he no longer hides from it now. And he has had a few issues trying to eat. But for a 2-year old, he has been very good about tearing off smaller bits of food and placing them towards the back of the mouth. The loose tooth is starting to tighten up and it looks like the other two are coming out a bit, but slowly.
Last week, my mother came for her annual visit. It was great seeing her again, as always. When we went to Chay's school to pick him up at the end of the day, Chay introduced her as his "new grandma". And after she left, the twins wondered where grandma was.
Our summer was cooler than normal. But we're making up for it now with temps in the mid-90s. Seems way too hot for here.
The school-year has started so I suppose summer is officially over. It won't be long until hockey season starts.
