Hockey Season Over

Chay played his last game of the season and now hockey is done for the year. Since it was also 50 degrees outside yesterday, I tore down the hockey rink in the back yard.

Chay liked playing the full ice games this last month. Next season, he'll go back to half-ice games. The teams must have been pretty evenly matched because of the six games they played, four of them ended in a tie. They used shootouts to decide the winners. In Chay's first shootout, he missed his penalty shot. Chay was devastated after the game. Chay got another chance. Here he is, not only making the shot, but this was the deciding shot to win the game.

Since yesterday's game was the final game, and it ended in a tie, the coaches decided that *all* players would participate in the shootout. This was great because some of the kids never were chosen for other opportunities. For some of the kids that scored in yesterday's shootout, it was their first goal of the month-long activity, so it was great to see!

Chay will do a hockey camp in the summer with some friends. Then he'll do a hockey camp before the start of next season. There are very few camps for kids the twin's age. Next, we're on to soccer and baseball and all three boys will be playing.
