Halloween 2017

It was quite an eventful Halloween this year. The boys did not wear costumes to school. Jace & Jenner had a PJ day instead. And the parents were invited to join the first graders for some activities. We made a folding book and the kids drew scary monsters.

We had to leave the first graders a bit early because the third graders had opened their Living Wax Museum. This was Chay's first really big project in school that lasted the month of October. Chay had to choose a character as a subject for his biography project. The project culminated with all the third graders in the cafeteria dressed up as their subject. Chay choose soccer superstar Lionel Messi. When you entered the cafeteria, they were lined up with a trifold in front of them showing pictures and important facts. They could also have a few artifacts. Chay had soccer shoes and a soccer ball. On each chest was a button marked Press Here. The third grader was not to say a word until you pressed the button and then they started their presentation stating who they were and why they were important. Here is Chay dressed up as Messi.

That evening, it was time to light the pumpkins. This was the first time I can recall needing to pry the lids off the pumpkins as they were frozen in place. Here are Jace & Jenner's pumpkins (left to right).

Jace's ghoul holding a pumpkin was pretty typical of the work I am asked to do every year. Jenner suprised me with the very simple, classic pumpkin face. But Chay more than made up for it with his level of detail below.

All those letters were a bit of a pain.

Then it was time for tricks-and-treats.

From left to right are the Sinister Jester (Chay), the Hungry Wolf (Jenner), and the Bloody Hockey Player (Jace).
