Rink Now Open
The boys are enjoying the opening of the rink in the back yard this winter. The rink opened on Dec 24th. We would have opened earlier, but after filling it with water, the boards broke. So I had to rebuild a part of it, then refill it.

Winter Concert
All 3 boys had their winter concert recently.
Each grade had a 20 minute presentation where they sang a few Christmas carols.
The 4" of snow we received last night combined with the frigid temps the next few days means we're guaranteed of a white Christmas this year.

Halloween 2017
It was quite an eventful Halloween this year. The boys did not wear costumes to school. Jace & Jenner had a PJ day instead. And the parents were invited to join the first graders for some activities. We made a folding book and the kids drew scary monsters.
We had to leave the first graders a bit early because the third graders had opened their Living Wax Museum. This was Chay's first really big project in school that lasted the month of October. Chay had to choose a character as a subject for his biography project. The project culminated with all the third graders in the cafeteria dressed up as their subject. Chay choose soccer superstar Lionel Messi. When you entered the cafeteria, they were lined up with a trifold in front of them showing pictures and important facts. They could also have a few artifacts. Chay had soccer shoes and a soccer ball. On each chest was a button marked Press Here. The third grader was not to say a word until you pressed the button and then they started their presentation stating who they were and why they were important. Here is Chay dressed up as Messi.
That evening, it was time to light the pumpkins. This was the first time I can recall needing to pry the lids off the pumpkins as they were frozen in place. Here are Jace & Jenner's pumpkins (left to right).
Jace's ghoul holding a pumpkin was pretty typical of the work I am asked to do every year. Jenner suprised me with the very simple, classic pumpkin face. But Chay more than made up for it with his level of detail below.
All those letters were a bit of a pain.
Then it was time for tricks-and-treats.
From left to right are the Sinister Jester (Chay), the Hungry Wolf (Jenner), and the Bloody Hockey Player (Jace).

Fall Carnival
Our school's PTA had a Fall Carnival as a fundraiser. The boys played games and had Dippin Dots. The twins got their hair colored as did our neighbor, Evan.
Jenner's hair is green on the back side, but you can't see it in that picture.
While I was retrieving that picture from my phone, I discovered Jace took a bunch of photos last night, including this one of his brothers.

Pumpkin Patch 2017
On Friday we picked the boys up right as school ended and we took them to the Pumpkin Patch for our annual tradition.
The weather was nice, but probably in the middle temperature wise. As usual, the boys had a great time.

Chay Soccer/Football
Chay's soccer and football seasons came to an end this week.
Typical of the Fall seasons, the soccer games had rain and cold. But the kids weathered through it.

Jace & Jenner's Final Football Game 2017
Jace & Jenner played their last game of the season last night. As you can tell from the picture, it was a bit chilly out there.

Flag Football Season
Flag Football is upon us. Here are Jace & Jenner at their first game:
Jenner didn't want his picture taken.
Jenner started the first half at QB. Jace was QB in the second half. Prior to the season, Jace was eager for football and Jenner not so much. But after the first practice, they flipped. Jenner smiles really big when he's playing and Jace isn't liking things so much. We'll see what they say as the season goes on.
Chay played QB his first game too. Odd that all 3 boys would be QB to start the season. They'll switch it up and give the other kids chances so these three might not see that position again.
Both teams won their first game.

Cities Trip
We had a break in sports schedules so we took the boys to the Twin Cities for a bit of a vacation. We visited the Minnesota Zoo, the Sea Life aquarium, and spent a full day at Nickelodean Universe.

Baseball Is Over
The baseball season completed this week.
Jace & Jenner's 6-year old team after the last game.

I have some other pictures of the boys in action and I will post as soon as I have them done.

Soccer Tournament Part II
In a past post, I wrote about a tournament the boys competed in June. They had one more tournament in July to end their Spring/Summer season. Sadly, I have no pictures of this latest tournament.
Chay's team went 3-0 again in the tournament outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 10-4. The only downside was that they did not make it to the championship game losing the tie breakers to two other 3-0 teams. Only three teams went undefeated in this tournament. The team that won the tournament was composed of mostly 10 year olds so our team of 8 year olds did a great job of competing in this tournament even if they didn't get a chance to play for the trophy.
For both tournaments, the team went 6-0 and outscored everyone 24-6. A great accomplishment!

RedHawks Game
Jace & Jenner's baseball team was invited to be honored at a recent RedHawks game. The boys got to go on the field for player introductions and the national anthem.
Storybook Land
A few weeks ago, we took the boys to Storybook Land. They boys loved it and wanted to stay for more, but the park was closing.

Soccer Tournament
Chay's team was in a 3-game soccer tournament over the past weekend. The team played really well and outscored their opponents 14-2 on the weekend. They won the first game 4-2 and then won the next two games by scores of 6-0 and 4-0. Here are the boys with their medals.
This team has one more tournament scheduled in a few weeks and then its a well-deserved break before Fall soccer starts.
Otherwise, we've been busy with baseball five nights a week and Chay is in a hockey camp the month of June.

Super Busy
We've been running around like crazy. Chay is playing soccer and baseball as he does this time of the year. Jace & Jenner have decided to play both sports as well. Here are Jace & Jenner before their first baseball game of the season.
The boys have also found a bit of time for some summer hockey.
Soccer season winds down in 2 weeks and then its baseball for the summer.

Hockey Season Over
Chay played his last game of the season and now hockey is done for the year. Since it was also 50 degrees outside yesterday, I tore down the hockey rink in the back yard.
Chay liked playing the full ice games this last month. Next season, he'll go back to half-ice games. The teams must have been pretty evenly matched because of the six games they played, four of them ended in a tie. They used shootouts to decide the winners. In Chay's first shootout, he missed his penalty shot. Chay was devastated after the game. Chay got another chance. Here he is, not only making the shot, but this was the deciding shot to win the game.
Since yesterday's game was the final game, and it ended in a tie, the coaches decided that *all* players would participate in the shootout. This was great because some of the kids never were chosen for other opportunities. For some of the kids that scored in yesterday's shootout, it was their first goal of the month-long activity, so it was great to see!
Chay will do a hockey camp in the summer with some friends. Then he'll do a hockey camp before the start of next season. There are very few camps for kids the twin's age. Next, we're on to soccer and baseball and all three boys will be playing.

Jace & Jenner Jamboree
Last weekend, it was time for Jace & Jenner to have their year-end Jamboree.
This year, Jace & Jenner's team needed some additional coaching help. I offered to coach the bench for some of the games. I don't get to see much of the game while I'm on the bench, but it does give a unique perspective. And a chance to get a few pictures most can't get.
The boys' hockey team posed for some pictures.
And Jace & Jenner took a pic with their friend Evan, whom they played against in their final game of the season.
For some families, they welcome the end of the hockey season. It's a long one for the boys. Evaluation camp starts in October and the season ends in early March. But for us, its fun. The boys love playing hockey, be it at the rink, in the backyard, or in the basement. When Chay has hockey, the twins find a friend to run around with and play, normally a sibling of someone Chay is playing with. When the twins are playing hockey, Chay finds a friend to run around with. Everyone has fun at the rink. While its nice to have a slower pace and not be running so much, we do wish the boys could still be playing.
Chay still plays until the end of the month and then the season is entirely complete. Then its on to soccer in mid to late April. The twins are going to play this year they say.

After the participation medals were handed out, we managed to get a picture of the four of us. Chay was playing hockey in another arena at this time otherwise he would have been in the picture too.
